CNR

The National Research Council (CNR) is the largest Italian public research organization, counting 88 institutes and more than 8500 employees; its mission is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge and their applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development. CNR will be involved in the project with the Institute of Science and Technology for Ceramics (ISTEC) (www.istec.cnr.it). ISTEC is an interdisciplinary research institute for the study of advanced ceramic materials in the biomedical, energy, aerospace and environmental field. ISTEC has strong international collaborations and is involved in several international programs including educational ones. Industrial partnership is widely developed and encouraged, and technology transfer is a priority.
The Ceramics for Health and Green Chemistry Group of ISTEC is mainly specialized in nanostructured bioinspired materials for biomedical and environmental applications. The experimental activity is focused on: synthesis of biomimetic and magnetic nanoparticles; drug delivery systems for nanomedicine, smart nanofertilizers for sustainable agriculture, etc. The development of new circular economy approaches for the recycling and recovery of valuable compounds from waste is also a priority topic of the group. The group has the access to the main facilities for the synthesis of nanomaterials, as well as for their extensive chemical, structural and morphological characterization.
